There was a time when companies did
all the talking and customers did all the listening. Goods sold were dictated by choices made exclusively by presidents,
managers and statistics. One way communication was it. The
people had no means of feedback so they just sat passively by and accepted
whatever they were told. It was a dictatorial style of marketing but also
an idyllic time for all large companies, especially those in the
traditional advertising field. But those days are gone forever. Thanks
mostly to the birth of the Internet.
Today the only way to actually
accomplish your goals is to help potential customers accomplish theirs.
Which means, it’s
no longer just about you, or me, or the company, it’s about stepping out
of our ego toward success.
What that boils
down to is the human element. Yes. It’s beautifully human and it’s what
people want.
